135 kWh usable, peaks at 205 kW. Every figure below comes from the same engine as the calculator, run on this car's own charge curve. Charge curve estimated from published charging reports, last checked 2026-09-12. Not independently dyno-verified.
DC intake power against state of charge, 0 to 100%.
The 80% to 10% window is the range most drivers plan a road trip around: you rarely arrive at a charger empty, and you rarely wait for 100%. Cold weather costs range twice, through denser air and the cabin heater; the 20°F figure has both.
Tuned against InsideEVs' real-world 10%->80% test (~42 min) - no named benchmark in the spec. No longer shares R1S's curve: Rivian's charging software update improved the R1S noticeably more than the R1T at the time of this test.
The charge session is integrated across 1% state-of-charge steps on the curve above, with the cold-weather intake limit applied below 68°F. Highway range applies aerodynamic drag scaling, a cold-air penalty and a temperature-dependent cabin heater to a 480 Wh/mi baseline. Formulas and their limits: how it works.
Pack age matters. These figures assume a new pack. The calculator takes a model year and odometer reading and derates both charging and range for an older one.
